SLUICE Art Fair
The debut Sluice Art Fair is both exhibition
space and platform for discussion and creation. Primarily (but not
solely) focusing on artist run not-for-profit spaces, SLUICE features an
open layout for expansive installations, performative works and
screenings including a multifaceted supporting programme.

Filmarmalade, Fordham Gallery, George and Jørgen, The Ledge Project, The
Mews Project Space, Modern Language Experiment, Rong-Wrong, Shift
Gallery, Space In Between, studio1.1, Theodore:Art, Transition Gallery
The programme consists of a preview breakfast, panel discussions,
art-making educational activities for children and young people and
artist publishing bookstands.
Primarily (but not solely) focusing on artist run not-for-profit
spaces, SLUICE does not wish to be didactic but rather provide an
informal and accessible temporary platform for young galleries and
project spaces to exhibit their artists’ work, gain exposure and
encourage dialogue between artists, curators and audiences.
Coinciding with the Frieze Art Fair, and taking advantage of its
proximity, Sluice will provide a platform for emerging, non-profit and
artist-run spaces, and is aimed both at an international art crowd and
the general public. With late opening and free entry SLUICE is designed
to enable access to all. SLUICE will serve as a punctuation point to the
London Art Fair week.
Organised by artist Karl England and curator and writer Ben Street.

began as a minimalist art rock band, at first separate to, but now an
extension of the their own individual art pratices. Collaborating
artists Paul Good and Kirsty Wood create installations using symbols,
relics and paraphernalia from the original band.
'To solidify a
negative space, three part score for The Magnificent Basement only', is a
visual representation of an ongoing body of work originating as scores
and recordings of less. now becoming sight specific installations.
Work
seen is the remainders of a past action. The walls cast in rubber have
been pulled from the wall to collapse under their own weight. The score
marks an uneasy fall or crescendo of sound with a small drum part cast
in plaster, lost within the mass.
The title words 'negative spaces refers to the artists' exploration of silence within music and how to frame what is formless.
All
viewings by appointment only until Friday 12 August (for appointments
please email info@alisn.org at least one day before your intended
visit).

an evening of small scale interactive performances and artworks
micro performance is an experimental performance structure developed by Rebecca Birch as part of an exploration into modes of communication and the intimacy of direct conversation.
for this special evening in the montague arms, the performers will abandon the main stage and interact in an intimate and yet informal manner with people in the pub. performers will wander through the audience or sit at tables and invite small groups to join them. You are invited to take your drinks around the bar to share a drink with each of the performers. expect personal serenades, table-top games, tall tales tellers, roaming side show performers and conversations with unusual creatures.
